pondering about Anthony Hopkins in 'Amistad'. Think it was a great role to play depicting John Quincy Adams. In that he speaks about comparing a daguerreotype of the late Adams with himself, which is quite believeable. The word 'daguerreotype' is hardly known by folk, let alone used (except for those industrious GRE-preparing hopefulls!!!)

This one is supposedly protecting its young from the sun. Lovely looking bird with a HUGE wingspan. You can hear the 'whoop' of its wings when it flies over. Lovely time to visit Ranganthittu

Had a great trip to Ranganthittu last weekend. Saw what we had gone to see...birds, and tons of them. Seems to be the right time to go since its nesting season. Advice is to go very early in the morning for good photo opportunities, if you want to avoid harsh lighting of the mid morning/midday sun
On the way back, stopped at Janapada Loka. Saw this guy 'wielding the wheel' and was only too happy to shoot
